Hi Everyone;
You may or may not know that I tend to be something of a news junkie
and have a decidedly political bent. Usually, I tend to keep most of my
politics to myself, with the exception of some foam-at-the-mouth rants
that those closest to me have to endure from time to time. I have
never sent an e-mail like this in all the years I've been online. But
something very, very bad is happening in our country and I feel
compelled to appeal to everyone I know and to beg you all to stand up
and make your voice heard so we can take back this great land of
liberty where we live.
I know some of you are Republican and I forgive you that. I myself tend
to be much more of a moderate than you might imagine. Unfortunately,
the GOP in power today is not the same as the Republican Party of
yester-year. No longer does it provide another, somewhat rationale
voice in the great 200 year dialogue/debate that has been a cornerstone
of our 2 party system; instead it has become an increasing belligerent
voice that seeks to undermine not only the crucial checks and balances
that keeps out government democratic, but in fact to obliterate very
basic rights and liberties enshrined in our Constitution.
Do not be deceived. This Administration has absolutely no interest in
the welfare of We, the People. It has increasingly used it's power to
deceive the American people and to line the coffers of war and disaster
profiteers such as Haliburton. It operates in secret using illegal
techniques and successfully shoots down any attempts made by the
judiciary or the Democratic Minority in Congress to investigate or
provide oversight.
Consider these incidents:
1. The Republicans in Congress refuse to allow an investigation into
alleged war profiteering; despite significant evidence that taxpayer
money earmarked for both the War in Iraq and the Katrina disaster has
been used to line the pockets of large corporations that do not provide
the service contracted. Haliburton, the Dick Cheny comrade, alone has
seen an increase of 600% in no-bid contracts. This from the party that
spent millions of our money to hire Ken Starr to investigate a blowjob.
2. Karl Rove, who in an act of treason, leaked the name of a CIA
operative to the press will, for some inexplicable reason will not be
indicted. Forget whether you think he is guilty or not; why is he being
excused from having to prove his "innocence" to a court and a jury?
3. This Congress recently voted a new raise for themselves, but refuse
to raise the minimum wage, which we all know is a poverty stipend.
4. There were no WMD in Iraq. We were intentionally lied to. Al Queda
was not in Irag until we arrived and proved them the largest training
camp they could have hoped for...real time. Sadam Hussein is not Bin
Laden, who remains at large.
5. There is considerable evidence of voter fraud in major districts in
the last Presidential election. These are not conspiracy theories, but
are in fact well-documented. (see Rolling Stone, this month for a full
coverage expose.)
6. Both Amnesty International and the United Nations report torture and
human rights violations by America under this Administration. We are
increasingly being seen throughout the world as am Imperialist Bully
and our standing as a beacon of human decency and democracy has been
seriously eroded.
These are but a few of the increasingly blatant insults of the Bush
administration and it's constant campaign to keep terror instilled in
our hearts in order to justify it's tactics.
You can say what you want about Democrats, but ask yourself one
question: Is your life and your families better in this eight years, or
in the 8 years on the Clinton Administration.
I love this country and I don't care if that sounds unfashionably
patriotic. I believe in democracy and checks and balances. I do NOT
believe in a powerful and unchecked Executive Branch. I am hoping you
do not either.
I am begging you to register and go out and vote Democratic this
November. Not Independent, not Green, and certainly not Republican.
While they may not always be as pragmatic as one might like, a
Democratic majority in Congress right now is critical to reign in this
Administration.
We are at a historical and very alarming place in time. Let's make sure
that we don't dismantle liberty and democracy here in order to export
it.

totalitarian regime, Bush Administration, imperialist bully...all used to describe our government in not very good terms.
let me add one of my own about Bush himself: smug punk that needs to get the shit beat of of him. want to slap that man everytime he speaks.
but in all fairness, it was the Clinton Administration that taught the youth of America that oral sex is not "really" sex...ask the teenagers.
but lets weigh that: swallowing sperm versus war profiteering. a hand job vs. getting fucked without even so much as a kiss.
Yeah, I say its time to go Democratic again.
BTW - I love my country and I am a patriot! Just in case HSA is listening in...
